ATTICS International Fair Assessment Policy

These policies are developed exclusively for ATTICS International. Any copying, sharing, or reuse without written consent is not permitted.

Purpose

ATTICS International is committed to ensuring that all assessments, examinations, evaluations, and competency determinations conducted under its authority are fair, valid, reliable, transparent, and impartial.

The purpose of this policy is to establish principles and controls that guarantee equal opportunity for all candidates and clients, prevent bias or unfair advantage, and maintain confidence in ATTICS International’s assessment and certification outcomes.

Scope

This policy applies to all assessment-related activities conducted by or on behalf of ATTICS International, including:

  • Training course assessments and examinations
  • Personnel certification and qualification assessments
  • Competency evaluations for professional schemes
  • Audit, inspection, testing, and calibration outcome determinations
  • Online, written, oral, and practical assessments

It applies to:

  • Students, trainees, and certification candidates
  • Corporate clients and sponsored participants
  • Trainers, assessors, examiners, invigilators, and technical evaluators
  • Approved training and examination centres

Policy Statement

ATTICS International shall ensure that:

  • All candidates are assessed against clearly defined and published criteria
  • Assessment methods are appropriate, valid, and consistent
  • No candidate is unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged
  • Assessors and examiners act impartially and professionally
  • Conflicts of interest are prevented and managed
  • Assessment records are secure and confidential
  • Appeals and complaints are handled fairly

Principles of Fair Assessment

Transparency

Assessment requirements, methods, pass criteria, and certification conditions are communicated clearly before assessments take place.

Objectivity

Assessment decisions are based solely on evidence of competence or performance against defined standards.

Consistency

Standardized marking schemes, evaluation procedures, and moderation practices are applied across all centres and locations.

Impartiality

Assessors and decision-makers have no personal, financial, or professional conflicts with candidates being assessed.

Accessibility

Assessment processes are designed to be inclusive, with reasonable accommodations provided where justified.

Alternative Assessment Arrangements Protocol

Requests for alternative assessment arrangements must be submitted with appropriate supporting documentation at least 21 days before the assessment date, evaluated by a designated Accessibility Committee, with approved accommodations documented in the candidate’s record without identifying the specific disability.

Confidentiality

Candidate information, results, and records are protected and disclosed only to authorized parties.

Assessment Design and Review

ATTICS International ensures that:

  • Assessment tools and examination materials are developed by qualified subject experts
  • Content aligns with defined learning outcomes and competency standards
  • Assessment materials are regularly reviewed and updated
  • Pilot testing and moderation processes are implemented

Assessor and Examiner Competence

All assessors, trainers, and examiners:

  • Are qualified and competent in relevant subject areas
  • Receive training on assessment principles and fairness
  • Sign conflict-of-interest and confidentiality declarations
  • Are monitored and periodically evaluated

Assessor Competency Framework

All assessors must demonstrate competency against a defined framework including technical subject knowledge, assessment methodology expertise, bias awareness, and decision-making consistency, with competency verified through observed assessments and portfolio review before independent assessment duties.

Reasonable Adjustments

ATTICS International provides reasonable accommodations for candidates with:

  • Disabilities
  • Medical conditions
  • Language or learning needs

Adjustments may include extended time, alternative formats, or modified assessment environments, without compromising assessment integrity.

Standardized Adjustment Categories

ATTICS International maintains standardized categories of reasonable adjustments including extra time (25% or 50% extensions), separate assessment rooms, assistive technology provision, and alternative assessment formats, with clear eligibility criteria and implementation guidelines for each category.

Malpractice and Misconduct

ATTICS International prohibits:

  • Cheating, plagiarism, or impersonation
  • Unauthorized materials or assistance
  • Examiner or invigilator misconduct

Confirmed malpractice may result in disqualification or withdrawal of certification.

Appeals and Complaints

Candidates or clients may challenge assessment decisions through the Complaints and Appeals Policy.

All appeals shall be reviewed independently and impartially.

Records and Data Protection

Assessment records, examination papers, marking sheets, and results shall be:

  • Stored securely
  • Retained for defined periods
  • Protected under ATTICS International’s Data Protection Policy

Monitoring and Continual Improvement

Assessment processes are reviewed through:

  • Internal audits
  • Feedback from candidates and clients
  • Performance analysis and pass-rate trends
  • External accreditation reviews
  • Improvements are implemented where required.

Statistical Analysis for Fairness

ATTICS International conducts annual statistical analysis of assessment outcomes by candidate demographics, centre location, and assessor to identify potential bias patterns, with differential pass rates exceeding 10% triggering investigation and potential assessment method revision.

Compliance with International Standards

This policy aligns with:

  • ISO/IEC 17024:2012 – Personnel certification fairness and impartiality
  • ISO 21001:2025 – Fair and ethical educational practices
  • ISO 9001:2015 – Customer satisfaction and service quality
  • ISO/IEC 17025 – Impartial evaluation of technical results
