International Diploma in Safety Engineering (IDSE)

Build a Global Career in Occupational Health & Safety

for TSP , ASP Exempted , Best route for CSP

An internationally aligned diploma designed to develop competent safety professionals for high-risk industries.

The International Diploma in Safety Engineering (IDSE) is a globally aligned professional qualification designed to develop competent Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) professionals capable of managing workplace risks across diverse industries. This diploma equips learners with comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) principles, international safety standards, and practical risk management techniques required in today’s high-risk work environments.

Developed to meet international safety and compliance requirements, the IDSE program focuses on hazard identification, risk assessment, safety management systems, accident prevention, and regulatory compliance. It is ideal for safety officers, engineers, supervisors, and individuals seeking a rewarding career in occupational health and safety.

With a strong emphasis on practical application, industry relevance, and global best practices, the International Diploma in Safety Engineering enhances professional credibility, improves employability, and prepares learners for safety roles in construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, engineering, and industrial sectors worldwide.

Upon successful completion of the International Diploma in Safety Engineering (IDSE), learners will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and practical competence in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management, science, and technology applications across diverse workplace environments.

By completing this unit, learners will be able to:

  • Critically assess the planning process of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OH&SMS) from a continual improvement perspective, including policy development, objectives, risk-based planning, and legal compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of established and implemented OH&SMS, analyzing how well the system supports hazard control, risk reduction, operational performance, and ongoing improvement.
  • Review and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of inspection and audit processes, including internal audits, workplace inspections, compliance evaluations, and corrective action mechanisms within the OH&SMS.
  • Analyze the management review process to determine its effectiveness in driving continual improvement, decision-making, resource allocation, and alignment with organizational health and safety objectives.

By completing this unit, learners will be able to:

  • Assess and apply fundamental principles of chemistry in workplace environments to identify chemical hazards, understand exposure routes, and recommend appropriate control measures for occupational health and safety.
  • Assess and apply basic principles of physics relevant to occupational health and safety, including forces, motion, pressure, heat, noise, and vibration, to evaluate workplace hazards and risks.
  • Evaluate and apply appropriate inspection techniques for mechanical equipment, ensuring safe operation, compliance, and suitability for specific industrial environments.
  • Assess the design and reliability of tools, equipment, and structures, considering environmental conditions, operational demands, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Identify and assess occupational health and safety risks associated with electricity, including electrical installations, equipment, and systems, and recommend effective risk control measures.
  • Assess fire-related occupational health and safety risks, including ignition sources, fire loads, fire prevention systems, and emergency response measures in workplace settings.
  • Evaluate occupational health and safety risks arising from nuclear and other radiation hazards, and determine suitable protective and control measures.
  • Assess biological health hazards in the workplace, including exposure to microorganisms, biological agents, and infectious materials, and apply appropriate control strategies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of engineering controls in mitigating a wide range of workplace hazards, and prioritize their use within the hierarchy of controls.
  • Assess the role and requirements of information technology in occupational health and safety management, including data collection, monitoring, reporting, and performance analysis.
  • Evaluate the suitability and safe application of mechanical devices used in industry, ensuring they are appropriate for specific workplace environments and operational conditions.

The International Diploma in Safety Engineering (IDSE) is structured into two comprehensive core modules, designed to provide both management-level understanding and practical industrial safety competence.

These modules collectively cover the essential knowledge, skills, and practical applications required for effective Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) management in modern workplaces.
