ATTICS International Plagiarism, Collusion, and Cheating Policy

These policies are developed exclusively for ATTICS International. Any copying, sharing, or reuse without written consent is not permitted.

Purpose

ATTICS International is committed to maintaining the integrity, credibility, and fairness of all training, assessment, examination, and certification activities.

The purpose of this policy is to define standards, controls, and consequences relating to plagiarism, collusion, and cheating, ensuring that all qualifications and certifications issued by ATTICS International reflect genuine learner achievement and competence.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • Learners and trainees
  • Examination and assessment candidates
  • Online and classroom-based learning
  • Assignments, projects, and portfolio submissions
  • Written, practical, and online examinations
  • Approved training and examination centres
  • Trainers, assessors, and invigilators

Policy Statement

ATTICS International shall:

  • Promote academic honesty and ethical conduct
  • Prevent unfair advantage in assessments and examinations
  • Investigate suspected malpractice objectively
  • Apply fair and consistent sanctions
  • Protect the credibility of ATTICS International qualifications

Definitions

Plagiarism

Presenting another person’s work, ideas, text, or data as one’s own without proper acknowledgment.

Collusion

Unauthorized cooperation between two or more individuals to gain unfair advantage in an assessment or examination.

Cheating

Any dishonest act intended to obtain unfair advantage in learning, assessment, or examination activities.

Examples of Prohibited Conduct

Plagiarism

  • Copying text from books, websites, or other learners
  • Submitting purchased or ghost-written assignments
  • Reusing previous work without authorization

Collusion

  • Sharing examination answers
  • Working together on individual assignments without permission
  • Distributing assessment materials to others

Cheating

  • Using unauthorized notes or devices in exams
  • Impersonation in examinations
  • Accessing exam papers before scheduled time
  • Manipulating online examination systems

Learner Responsibilities

All learners and candidates must:

  • Submit original work
  • Properly reference sources
  • Follow examination and assessment rules
  • Not share or seek unauthorized assistance
  • Protect their login credentials and examination access

Detection and Reporting

Suspected plagiarism, collusion, or cheating may be identified through:

  • Invigilator or assessor observation
  • Plagiarism detection software
  • IQA moderation
  • Examination monitoring systems
  • Reports from staff or learners

All suspected cases are reported to the Quality / Compliance Manager.

Investigation Procedure

  • Incident recorded and evidence collected
  • Learner or candidate informed of allegation
  • Impartial investigation conducted
  • Learner given opportunity to respond
  • Decision made by authorized panel
  • Outcome communicated in writing

All cases are handled in accordance with the Malpractice and Maladministration Procedure.

Sanctions

Depending on severity:

  • Written warning
  • Requirement to resubmit work
  • Disqualification from assessment or examination
  • Cancellation of results
  • Suspension from future assessments
  • Permanent exclusion from ATTICS International programs
  • Withdrawal of certification where applicable

Right to Appeal

Any learner or candidate subject to sanction may appeal through the Enquiries and Appeals Policy for Learners.

Confidentiality

All cases are:

  • Treated confidentially
  • Recorded securely
  • Disclosed only to authorized persons or bodies

Awareness and Prevention

ATTICS International shall:

  • Inform learners of academic integrity requirements
  • Provide guidance on plagiarism prevention
  • Train staff and invigilators in detection methods
